March…Spring Arrives!

March arrives…it’s just about time to say good by to those long cold winter days and welcome the first whisper of Spring.  I think my favorite season.  With the newness of Spring our souls awaken, along with Mother nature who helps the flowers begin to make their appearance.  The branches will soon begin to show their blossoms and new growth.  Deep within ourselves we find a stirring of freshness and excitement to once again be outside among the beauty God has blessed us with.

It’s time to put those little seedlings in cups and let their growth begin indoors.  It’s also time to seek out and purchase those Spring pansies to bring life to our gardens and baskets. Have you ever thought of a live Easter basket?  It’s easy…gather a pretty basket line it with a small plastic garbage bag and a few pebbles.  Add two inches of your best potting soil.  Sprinkle a little fast growing rye grass on the top and then cover with a bit more potting soil.  Water it well and cover it with clear wrap for a few days.  When the grass begins to sprout put the basket in a sunny location and keep watered.  In a couple of weeks you’ll have a basket of living grass.  Decorate your basket with a couple of your favorite Easter eggs and perhaps a bunny.  Don’t forget a pretty bow.  Now you have a delightful gift to give to someone special.

Remember it’s simple joy that will bless us more.
