52 ~ Week 37
This week’s challenge “Interesting Perspective.”
My Mom and I spent four fabulous days together last week exploring small towns and seaports along the rocky coast of Maine We fell in love with so many places we visited and met wonderful people. I now know why they call Maine the “Vacationland” state. So much to see and do! This is one of the many lighthouses you can visit in Maine. Owl’s Head lighthouse located on the coastal waters in Rockland Maine. Built in 1852…and this is my photo of the week!
We walked out through the woods to find this lighthouse. When I got to it I didn’t feel like climbing the stairs…it seems a bit creepy to me. I don’t know why but it just did. So I decided to photograph it from below. I actually like this angle…it’s an interesting perspective. What do you think?
I have also included many of photos from our trip so if you have never taken a trip to Maine then perhaps these photos will give you a feel for what the state is like…spectacular…just spectacular!
One of our first stops was to visit the famous Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse in York, Maine. One of the most sought after lighthouses in America to photograph and this was actually my first time to photograph it too and the lighting was perfect! The sun was just beginning to go down and the seas were a bit rough from the hurricanes out in the ocean and I was excited to capture the water splashing up against the rocks. Mom and I spent time just sitting…relaxing and enjoying the scenery. God’s most precious work.
Next stop was Camden Maine and our favorite spot to visit on this trip. A seaport surrounded by beautiful mountains. We even took a 2 1/2 sailing trip on a 58 foot schooner. What a treat that was! A most relaxing afternoon and wonderful memory I will hold forever.
I actually did get to take the helm. I know how to sail and have my boating license! It was pure pleasure!
My lovely Mom and me! Wow am I in the need of a hairdresser appointment! We loved all the specialty shops and scored a few treasures to take home with us.
The post office in Owl’s Head. So cute.
I just loved all these bird house on the fence outside a little bakery.
These are the famous “Oreo Cows” after the Oreo cookies…a trademark in Rockport Maine. It was such a foggy morning but I love how it added to the scenery.
What’s Maine without lobster pots! You can find them everywhere! We just loved eating so much lobster in our four days! It’s the best in Maine!
This is the coastal area of Booth Bay Harbor….another really neat seaport.
If you ever get the chance….take a trip to coastal Maine! It’s truly Heaven!
