Fundraiser Success for Children Without Hair Non Profit Organization

I was beyond blessed with the outpouring of love and support Peyton Holden and I received for our fundraiser to bring awareness to others about Alopecia. With the Special Person Mini Sessions I offered we raised $225.00 which will be given to the non-profit organization “Children With Hair Loss“.

Through these sessions I was introduced to some amazing people and began friendships I believe will last for years to come. For instance, Amy (the mom) and her daughter Caitlyn in the image above. I was so honored to meet them both and photograph these two very special ladies who both have Alopecia and for the very first time in Amy’s life she took off her wig to reveal the true person she is to all the world.  Here’s Amy’s story in her own words…

For those who know last year I took a big step (in my eyes) for my daughter Caitlyn on “National Daughter’s Day and told all that I too have Alopecia. Well, I decided to take another BIG step. Caitlyn has been asking me why I don’t go out in public without my wig on. To be honest, I’m not as confident or as strong as she is. Only a few have seen me “all natural” and thank you for loving us the way we are.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank my wonderful and supportive hubby, David Hathaway and Catherine Cella of Joyful Reflections Photography in helping me in my decision to show the world the real me!

I was so proud of Amy and as you can see she is just one amazingly beautiful women with or with out hair. I would like to give a big thank you to Stacie Amanna of TranscendentCT for the wonderful gift of free makeup she gave to Amy and Caitlyn for their special session.

I would like to also share Caitlyn’s story in her own words. My name is Caitlyn. I’m 9 years old and I have Alopecia. I lost my hair at 6 months old. I’m going into 5th grade! My family and friends have been really supportive. My friends have told me that they prefer me without my wig. They say we like you better without it. If you wonder if I ever wear my wigs I do not because I feel like it’s not the real me! My hobbies are playing soccer, reading, playing with my friends and just having fun! Thank you to all my family and friends who support and allow me to be me.

From the bottom of my heart thank you all for helping to make this fundraiser a success! I hope you have all been touched by the stories. Enjoy some of the images below of the families that gave toward this fundraiser through the special person mini sessions. I hope you truly have more appreciation for those who live everyday with Alopecia.  God Bless.

This is Amy with her beautifully made all real hair wig. I love it!

This is beautiful Peyton and it was her wish to bring awareness to others with Alopecia. Please read more about Peyton and our goal together to raise money to help children without hair be able to acquire wigs. Thank you Peyton…we did it!

Catherine, I can’t thank you enough for these beautiful pictures. It certainly was a tough decision to make but you made it very easy to show me “all natural”. Caitlyn and I can’t thank you enough and so glad we were able to share our story!ReplyCancel
