Fabyan Sugar Shack

This year I decided to get involved and help promote our Ellington Farmers Market and bring awareness to our community and customers about our wonderful vendors and farmers which together have helped our market grow and will continue to grow in the coming years.

Eric Virkler, another local photographer and myself will be going behind the scenes and capturing these folks in their working environments.  There will be a gallery available for everyone to view the images and get a true glimpse of what goes into the makings of our Connecticut Farm Products and original hand-crafted goods that are featured each week at the market.   The photos will be available for purchase with a portion of the sales going to help with advertising and marketing of our market.

So with pleasure I bring to you Fabyan Sugar Shack which is located in the beautiful countryside of North Grosvenordale Connecticut.   Owners Gary Durand and Jeff Mailloux have operated this family run business for over 8 years.  They specialize in all things maple!  Of course, they have some of the finest maple syrup in New England, but the products they produce with their maple syrup are also excellent.   I was lucky enough to try the incredible maple cotton candy the day I went to visit them.  Some of their other maple products include maple peanut brittle, maple ice cream topping and maple jelly and maple candies.  Yummy!

Gary or Jeff are more than happy to provide a complete showing of the sugar house and a lesson or two on how sap becomes syrup.  They are super nice folks…all of them!  Besides selling their products at local farmers markets, Fabyan Sugar Shack provides to many local restaurants in their area like the famous Vanilla Bean Restaurant, 85 Main and Bill’s Bread & breakfast to mention just a few.

We do hope you will stop by and visit them and all our vendors at our Ellington Farmers Market on Saturday mornings starting May 5th from 9am to noon!  We are located at Arbor Park Rt.286/Main St. in the center of Ellington…right next to the Ellington Fire Department.  See you there!

I just moved in at Sunshine Terrace… Can’t wait to go up the road to see your place and replenish my supply… Every year, I took my 7th grade students to Quebec and we always spent a night at the Cabane à Sucre (Sugar Shack)….. Miss those days.ReplyCancel
