This morning a group of ladies gathered at The Garden Barn in Vernon to attend my two hour class on photographing flowers. I began the class with tips on photographing all the beautiful flowers you see all around us each day. Tips including weather, lighting, camera settings, the use of reflectors or diffusers and much more. The next hour was spent using these tips along with tools I brought for a hands on instructional class using our cameras. I had the students photograph the same flower or plant and then we compared images and talked about ways to possibly improve them…if needed. I think everyone’s favorite part of the class though, was learning how to photograph with a crystal ball. This is where creativity can really come out and it did!
For those of you wanted to attend the class but were not able to, I will be holding another class on Wednesday, May 29th from 5:30-7:50. I hope you get the chance to get out and photograph your garden flowers soon!
A few of the students practicing focusing up close of the flowers and learning all about using different angels.
In the photo below, Cathy Testa of Cathy T’s Landscape Designs takes a moment to explain about the Dogwood tree blossoms.
Time to get real creative as we experimented using my crystal ball. Everyone really enjoyed this part of the class including me!
Photographing the Magnolia trees and I was surprised to see they were available in yellow…my favorite color!
Love the delicacy of these beautiful flowers.
This beautiful large Iris was already in full bloom and such vibrant color!
