Ahh…Fall is in the air! I love this time of year when the air is crisp and cool, leaves are beginning to turn and apples are in abundance. With all those apples I picked I just had to make apple crisp for my boys. A nice surprise for them and it surely was delicious. I love how the entire house fills up with the aroma of apples baking…it gives me the feeling of a nice warm home. There should be a fire roaring and I should be cuddling on the couch but since it was 76′ outside today there will be no fire. Those days will soon be here.
I surely hope you have the opportunity to bake some apple crisp or apple pie this fall. Enjoy these wonderful days. Here is my Apple Crisp recipe! If you try it I hope you like it!
Apple Crisp
2 Cups Oatmeal (I use quick cook not instant)
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Brown Sugar, firmly packed
2 sticks of butter
Dash of Salt, if desired
Tablespoon of Cinnamon
Pealed sliced apples. (Fill a 9×13 baking dish 2/3’s full)
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Crumple over the apples. Bake at 350 ‘ until golden brown and apples are bubbling.
Serve warm or cold. It’s great for breakfast or dessert topped with whip cream or vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy!
