{ Project 52 – Week 33 }

Theme  for this week “Slow down and look back.”

This was one of the best challenges for me thus far.  It actually made me truly slow down and enjoy a day totally with my son…most of the day hand in hand.
That in itself I loved.

This theme made me want to wander back to years gone by…some would say, “the good ole” days when life was simpler.  Perhaps simpler but not always easy.
On Thursday, Michael and I went to visit Old Sturbridge Village in nearby Massachusetts.  We spent almost the entire day wondering through the village meeting so many wonderful people that work their and even some Amish folks that were visiting from the Amish country in Pennsylvania.  We watched and learned all about life as it was in the early 18th century.  We even enjoyed a picnic together under an old oak tree.

In this photo, two young boys were learning about herbs while picking them to put in cheese they were going to make as part of a day camp they attend.  Can you image a day camp for a week learning all about life back then…I would have loved that as a kid!

Being that the entire village is a replica of that era I thought my photo for the week should have a vintage feel to it also…since they really didn’t have color photos back then.  If you happen to travel through New England…perhaps you might really enjoy a trip to Old Sturbridge Village too.  Take a look at some of my other photos from the day and you’ll see why we like to visit there at least once a year!  So much to offer!

I just LOVE the pictures,especially the one of all the children playing..the different colors are great!And of course the last one of the pond/covered bridge…beautiful how the trees are reflected in the water!If I could, my house would be decorated in the beauty you capture in all your pictures!

Love them all and you truly captured the spirit of the period. Michael truly is a lucky little boy to go to all these wonderful places with you. I hope you he knows that.
