Theme for this week was “Connections.”
I chose this photo because the balloons were making a connection being all intertwined with one another.
This is my precious grand-daughter Natalie holding onto the balloons so tightly so they wouldn’t blow away. I was lucky enough to capture this shot.
You may be wondering why Natalie is holding these balloons? They were for Michael’s 10th birthday celebration.
On Thursday, Michael turned 10 and we threw him a surprise birthday party at the famous Cabela’s store in East Hartford, Connecticut.
We got him…he was so surprised… he had no idea! I was so happy we pulled it off! I just love surprises! Don’t you?
Ten of Michael’s good friends came along to help in the celebration. Cabela’s organized a scavenger hunt for the boys, a competition at their shooting gallery
and a pizza lunch. Mom brought along a Friendly’s ice cream cake. The makings for one fun time!
I also thought I would share with you a bit of the Cabela’s experience through the photos of Michael’s party. Enjoy!

A look at Cabela’s from upstairs.
The decor and exhibits at Cabela’s are certainly pleasing to the hunting and fishing enthusiast, but they are also educational.
Each of the animals displayed has a descriptive sign, and the trophy plaques throughout the store describe the animal. There are over 400 animals displayed.

Here the boys are working on the scavenger hunt. They started off in pairs of two but toward the end were working all together on the clues.
A few of the hundreds of animals displayed throughout Cabela’s.

Michael with a couple of his buddies waiting for pizza to be served!
Here we are in the shooting range where the boys really had a blast! The record was a perfect score of 200!

Connections here too…many of these boys have been friends since they were two years old!
I hope his wish comes true!

Cathy that was wonderful. Your photos really captured the day the boys must have had. Looks like a perfect place for boys to celebrate their birthdays. Thanks for sharing Michael’s birthday with us.
